Cr Cr A Hunter (Chair) opened the meeting at 9am and acknowledged that the meeting was being held on Bundjalung Country.

Adoption of Minutes from Previous Meetings

 

Recommendation:

That the minutes of the Biodiversity and Sustainability Advisory Committee Meeting held on 1 October 2015 be confirmed.

Business Arising from Previous Minutes

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

1.    This Biodiversity and Sustainability Advisory Committee be kept informed of the progress relating to vegetation mapping; RLUSRural Land Use Strategy; HCUHigh Conservation Value; HEU High Environmental Value and EZones) and that consideration be given to developing a summary document of the interrelationship between these.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

2.    That the Biodiversity and Sustainability Advisory Committee receive a status report on environmental levy expenditure.

3.    That the sub working group “Review of Biodiversity and Conservation Strategy “   meet before the end of the year to discuss the review of the wildlife corridor mapping and methodology.

Report No. 5.1             Low Carbon Strategy Update

Committee recommendation:

 

That the Biodiversity and Sustainability Committee receive and note the report and that the Biodiversity and Sustainability Committee congratulate Council on achieving and progression progressing 99% of the first year actions in the Low Carbon Strategy.

1.    That the Biodiversity and Sustainability Advisory Committee meets from 9.00am to 11.00am on the following dates during 2016, subject to ordinary meeting dates:

·    Thursday, 23 June 2016

·    Thursday, 18 August 2016

·    Thursday, 10 November 2016

·    Or as required

2.    That if required an additional meeting be scheduled for the Biodiversity and Sustainability Committee to consider the draft 2016/17 Environmental Levy Budget.

 

3.    That Chris Sanderson be invited to become a voting member of the Biodiversity and Sustainability Committee
