The Mayor opened the meeting and acknowledged that the meeting is being held on Arakwal Country and that we pay our respects to the elders past and present and extend our respect to the Bundjalung clans whose lands and waters are part of the Shire.

 

 

Public Access

 

Prior to dealing with the circulated reports and associated information, a Public Access Session was held and the Committee was addressed on the following:

Gary Morgan, Nathaniel Folkes (Mojosurf) and Rusty Miller (Personalized Surfing Instructor) addressed the Committee against the recommendation.

Cr Martin was granted a leave of absence at the Ordinary Meeting on 2 February 2017.

Report No. 4.1             Policy 5.52 Commercial Activities on Coastal and Riparian Crown Reserves and Request for Tender - Commercial Activities Sub-Licenses

Resolved:

1.    That Council convene a working party consisting of current licence holders, NPWS and Cape Byron Marine Parks, Council, community representatives and other independent coastal activity experts.

 

2.    That this working group provide a report with recommendations for the draft Policy 5.52 – Commercial Activities on Coastal and Riparian Crown Reserves.

 

3.    That Council consider the recommendations prior to placing a draft Policy 5.52 – Commercial Activities on Coastal and Riparian Crown Reserves on public exhibition.   (Richardson/Ndiaye)

 

The motion was put to the vote and declared carried.

     

 

There being no further business the meeting concluded at 8.00pm.
