Cr Ndiaye (Chair) opened the meeting at 9:08am and acknowledged that the meeting was being held on Bundjalung Country.

Declarations of Interest – Pecuniary and Non-Pecuniary

Madeleine Green declared a non-pecuniary interest. The nature of the interest being that Madeleine lives 2kms from the Resource Recovery Centre.


 

Adoption of Minutes from Previous Meetings

Committee Recommendation:

That the minutes of the Climate Change and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee Meeting held on 17 November 2022 be confirmed.

Report No. 4.1           Meeting Schedule for 2023 Climate Change and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee

Committee Recommendation:

1.      That the Climate Change and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee notes the scheduled meeting dates and times for 2023.

2.      That the Climate Change and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee advise of any agenda items for future meetings.

3.     That the following items be put onto the agenda for our next committee meeting.

a)      To get a report on the formal relationship between our Shire and the group of Shires.

 

b)      A report on our current waste strategies in relation to incineration as a Shire and within the group.

 

c)      A status report on the proposed waste to energy plant at Casino including the positions of the other councils within North East waste and the State Government post-election.

 

d)      To consider a motion of no support for an incinerator (waste to energy) project in the region.                                                                                      (Ndiaye/Pugh)

Fleur Brown left the meeting at 10:30am therefore quorum was lost. The remaining committee members noted the report.

That the Climate Change and Resources Recovery Advisory Committee notes the report.
